Breakdown
Austin Jackson was drafted by the Yankees in the 8th round of the 2005 draft. Although his numbers are for-the-most-part pedestrian, he offers a lot more potential. He has a strong build and Baseball America named him the most athletic prospect in the Yankees system. Jackson has good potential on both sides of the ball and should give the Yankees a reliable outfielder within the next year or two. Scouts started to notice Jackson a lot after he hit .345/.398/.566 with 31 extra-base hits including 10 home runs in just 258 at bats in 2007. Jackson should continue to get better with age and I expect to see him in a Yankee uniform sometime around September this season.

2009 Outlook

Jackson will probably continue to be challenged and should be with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. He could be an injury away from making his big league debut with the Yankees.
