Breakdown
The Florida Marlins drafted Logan Morrison in the 22nd round of the 2005 draft. He was drafted out of North Shore High School in Louisiana but signed as a "draft-and-follow" in the Spring of 2006 after attending Maplewoods Community College in Kansas City, Missouri. After an unspectacular 2006 season, Morrison broke out in 2007 hitting 24 home runs with an .826 OPS with the Greensboro Grasshoppers. In 2008, Morrison was in the Florida State League with the Jupiter Hammerheads. In the very tough FSL, Morrison hit .332 with an .896 OPS. He then followed that up with a great stint in the Arizona Fall League where he hit .404/.444/.667 with 14 extra-base hits including 5 home runs. Morrison is trying to prove that he's versatile and is attempting to play not only first base, his natural position, but also the corner outfield. He's fine defensively at first, but it's for his benefit to have another fall-back position incase first base is filled when he's ready for the Majors.
