Twins pull it together, take series

The Twins fell behind in the series 0-1 before winning the next two games to take the season series lead against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Twins and Rays will conclude the series in a month, only this time we'll be playing in Tropicana Field instead of the Metrodome.

Last night, the Twins had 12 hits, but most of the damage was done in the first inning when the Twins played small ball to take an early 4-0 lead. Denard Span, Brendan Harris and Justin Morneau hit one-two-three in the order and each had three hits apiece while coming around to score twice.

Nick Blackburn had a great start, going seven innings while giving up eight hits, two runs, and a walk while striking out three. He now sits at 2-1 with a 4.02 ERA through five starts this season.

The Twins have an off-day on Thursday before hosting the Kansas City Royals this weekend. The Royals are currently in a three-way tie with the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox for first place in the A.L. Central.
