Breakdown
The San Francisco Giants drafted Gerald "Buster" Posey with the 5th overall pick of the 2008 draft. After an outstanding collegiate career with the Florida State Seminoles, Posey has impressed a lot of people in a very limited amount of time. He has a great approach to the plate and is a great defender behind it. He projects as an All-Star caliber catcher with near pluses in every offensive category. He has a very athletic build and should be able to handle the bumps and bruises that goes along with being a catcher. A lot of people (including Posey) believe he's ready for the Major Leagues right now, but he'll get there sooner rather than later and when he does the Giants are going to have a great middle-of-the-order hitter that they can place at one of the most important positions on the field.

2009 Outlook

Posey could probably start in Double-A, but he's expected to be in Advanced-A to start the season. He won't require a lot of time and could be in San Francisco late this summer. If nothing else, he's probably already a lock to get called up when rosters expand in September.
