Breakdown
Chris Parmelee was drafted in the first round of the 2006 draft. Many have been disappointed with his performance but it really boils down to him just having a low batting average and a high number of strikeouts. Despite these numbers being poor, he has still managed to post .344 OBP and a .799 OPS in his first 849 AB's of professional baseball. He draws a lot of walks and is a big-time run producer. He is currently in the mold of Adam Dunn who also is an "all or nothing hitter." I believe that Parmelee will definitely help the Twins at some point and could be a legitimate middle-of-the-order hitter at the major league level. He repeated the Midwest League, but I think he's done enough to earn a promotion. It'd be great to see his average go up and his strikeouts go down, but I don't see either of these numbers really changing that much. I think he is what he is and that is a power-hitter with great run producing potential.
