Andrei Lobanov signed with the Twins as a non-drafted free agent in August of 2007. The soon-to-be 19-year-old southpaw from Moscow has great height for a pitcher, but could stand to gain a little weight. He throws in the mid 80's with his fastball, and although he has little movement on his pitches, he still has good strikeout numbers in his first 22 innings of pro ball. He has outstanding control (5-1 K/BB ratio) and if he can improve his velocity by just 5-6 mph, but keep his control, he could move up the prospect rankings very quickly.
