Tuesday's Thoughts

Twins Tidbits

· The Rochester Red Wings have
announced that both first baseman/DH Ken Harvey and pitcher Nick Blackburn were placed on the disabled list on Monday. Nick Blackburn is only expected to miss 2 starts with a right forearm strain, and Ken Harvey is expected to miss the rest of the season with arthroscopic knee surgery. Great news for Blackburn and horrible news for Harvey. Blackburn has been a great success for the Wings this season and after all the rehab Ken Harvey had to do to get back to Rochester, it's now a waste. Hopefully the former "all-star" doesn't give up and can help the organization in some way in 2008.

· With two open spots on the roster, Tim Kolehmainen has reported that the Rochester Red Wings have called up pitchers, Jay Sawatski (pictured right) and 6-foot 6-inch southpaw Ryan Mullins (pictured left) from New Britain. Before this move, the Red Wings were struggling to find pitchers, but now it puts the Rock Cats in a pickle. But they have options, Yohan Pino, Jeff Manship, Eddie Morlan and Oswaldo Sosa all could be called up in the near future to help bolster the Rock Cats rotation/bullpen.

· Rookie Matt Garza will face Nate Robertson and the Tigers on Tuesday night at the Dome. This is a big series for the Twins. The team is currently 6 games behind the first-place Tigers. The Twins hopefully will be just 3 games back when the series is finished. The Twins face the Angels after the Tigers, both series will be tough.

· And incase you didn't see it,
Twins Territory has recently done an interview with Rochester Red Wing centerfielder/former first-round pick, Denard Span. I definitely recommend anyone/everyone to check it out.
