The Twins got exactly what they needed from Scott Baker for the second time in a row, a good start. Scott Baker lasted 7 innings and gave up 1 run, struck out 9 and only walked 1 batter. He was definitely at the top of his game last night. The Twins in fact struck out 15 batters in this game. Scott Baker stuck out the side in the 2nd, and Pat Neshek struck out the side in the 9th. Not only did the Twins get a great start from Scott Baker, but they also got a great performance from their bullpen. None of the Twins relievers allowed a hit.
9 different Twins players got hits on Tuesday night. But Jason Kubel and Jeff Cirillo were the only ones to drive in a run. Both runs scored came from Michael Cuddyer. Michael Cuddyer got the start at 1st Base to let Jeff Cirillo rest his legs and Justin Morneau still isn't ready to return from his collision. Jeff Cirillo came into pinch hit for Jason Tyner in the bottom of the 12th inning. After a nice AB, Jeff Cirillo finally hit a blooper into center field just ahead of diving Vernon Wells' glove. Wells made a great attempt at it, but luckily for the Twins, he came up short. Had Wells caught that, it would've been the top "Web Gem" for the night, if not the week.
- Boof Bonser (5-3, 4.45) will start on Wednesday against the Jays' Josh Towers (2-5, 5.75). The Boofer has given up 12 Home Runs this season, which isn't bad, but isn't great. He's gotten a hold of it recently, only giving up 5 in his last 10 starts, but we can only hope that he's not the pitcher to give up #500 to the "Big Hurt".
